IHG Expands Premium Offerings with Regent Hotels
IHG has recently acquired Regent Hotels and Resorts and all of the brand’s hotels are available to earn and redeem points. While the Regent brand is small, it gives IHG enthusiasts more high end international options. There are currently six properties with two more being added over the next year.

Should you Book Using Points?
I checked out each Regent location to see the type of prices for both cash and rewards. The cash prices seem to be in line with Intercontinental for each of the available locations. The points are also very similar to Intercontinental and Kimpton. Points per night are between 50 and 60K.
Conclusion
If you notice the current Regent locations, they’re not exactly in the most expensive areas in terms of hotel prices. For example, the Regent Taipei is priced at $240 (or $200 if paid in advance) on a random day in April, but it costs 60K points to book. Even at the low end of the spectrum for IHG point values that’s not a good use of your points. In case your ever confused about whether you should pay for cash or book with points you can always use this simple approach. Of course this value improves if you have an IHG credit card or there’s a loyalty program promotion.
