IHG One Rewards Expands Use of Food & Beverage Rewards

IHG has revealed some positive details today regarding its Food & Beverage Rewards. IHG One Rewards members can redeem these rewards for credit against applicable food and beverage charges during a hotel stay, up to a maximum of $20 per voucher at participating IHG Hotels & Resorts. The Food & Beverage Reward is one of the milestone reward options and is valid for 12 months from milestone selection.

IHG now says that members will have more time to use Food & Beverage Rewards. All Food & Beverage Rewards chosen in 2022 will have the expiration date extended through December 31, 2023. You will see the expiration date updated in your account in January. You can access your rewards here.

These rewards have been difficult to use since they were launched earlier this year. So this extension should be helpful to give guests more time to find properties where they canb redeem them.

Additionally, by March 2023, members will be able to begin using Food & Beverage Rewards at US and Canada Luxury, Lifestyle and Premium hotels. This includes InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Hotel Indigo, voco, EVEN Hotels, and Crowne Plaza.

Food & Beverage Rewards can be used for purchases applied to guest room bills at hotel restaurants, in-room dining, minibar food & drink items and associated tax and gratuity charges.

  1. Wait, have you used a F&B reward at ANY IHG hotel? I got several in anticipation of a specific stay in the Spring 2023. Then shortened that stay significantly. In the account wallet where they show on the IHG app, all of mine have said “Coming Soon” since I selected them in August (4 months ago). When you say they have been “difficult to use,” that sounds like it would be a major improvement from not working at all as they are still “Coming Soon.”

if they are in some way operational now, please explain! I just $80 on hotel dinner at a nice Holiday Inn with water views. Would love to use these (thus far useless) F&B rewards instead.

I am hoping that by indicating they will be useable at more brands in the Spring, they are not intending to prevent usage until then. I am not feeling rewarded.

    Thank you for the info.
