IHG Spire Status Promotion

IHG Spire Status Promotion

IHG has an awesome promotion that’ll give you top tier Spire Elite Status for 90 days and a fast track to keeping it for another year. In order to keep elite status you’ll need to stay 10 nights in the next 90 days for Spire and 5 nights for Platinum. Note that nights with a rate less than $35 will not qualify. Check out their official page for complete details of IHG’s rewards program and benefits of elite status

Key Details

  • You must register here by 10/31/2018- yes, that means tomorrow.
  • You do not have to be registered for IHG Rewards already or hold status with another hotel program.
  • It’s unclear whether this is a targeted offer for employees of specific companies but I was able to sign up and it shows in my account that I am signed up for this promo. Hopefully this means it will apply to my account. There’s no way to tell until the Spire trial status is reflected.

Platinum status with IHG is pretty easy to come by since you just need an IHG Credit Card but I’ve found Platinum status to be well worth the $89 Annual Fee. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would benefit from status but either can’t or won’t get the credit card since 5 nights is not too much to ask for status and 10 nights for Spire is great. The main benefit of Spire over Platinum is 25k Points upon qualification or ability to gift Platinum status, extra points on spend (5 extra per dollar) and presumably a better chance at room upgrades.

  1. I may be misunderstanding the promotion. I signed up and it shows on my account, however, I still show as Platinum Elite, not Spire. Also, it shows an end date of 10/31. I know that’s supposed to be the registration deadline, but my other offers show end dates that reflect the actual end dates of the offers. I’m unlikely to hit 10 nights, but I have a stay this weekend and figured why not see if Spire status gives me an upgrade. Any ideas? Thanks.

  2. The ‘catch’ as far as I can tell, is that you need to book qualifying corporate rates through a corporate booking program. This could severely limit a lot of people in qualifying for 2019. This is why I passed on the offer. I can’t yet see a way around it, but if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them!

    • Just underneath the fast track requirements it says “For business travel please book via your company’s preferred method, for personal stays please book direct at This is offer is valid for 90 days from registration. Registration closes on 31 October.” I would sign up if I were you just in case
