JetBlue & United Launch Reciprocal Elite Perks

JetBlue and United have announced another major update to their “Blue Sky” partnership, with reciprocal loyalty benefits now live for eligible TrueBlue and MileagePlus members.

Travelers flying either airline can now receive select elite-style perks when adding their frequent flyer number to reservations.

New reciprocal benefits include:

  • Priority boarding
    • When traveling on JetBlue, Premier® Platinum and Premier® 1K® members will board with Group 1; Premier Gold members with Group 2; and Premier Silver members with Group 3
    • When traveling on United, Mosaic 2, 3 and 4 members will board with Group 1 and Mosaic 1 members will board with Group 2
  • Complimentary extra legroom seating at check-in
    • Includes EvenMore seating when traveling on JetBlue
    • Includes Economy Plus® seating when traveling on United
  • Preferred seat selection
  • Priority check-in and security
  • One free checked bag with priority handling
  • Same-day standby

United Premier members will receive benefits when flying JetBlue, while JetBlue Mosaic members will receive similar perks on United flights. The update builds on the airlines’ existing partnership that already allows customers to earn and redeem points across both carriers.

Conclusion

This is another meaningful step in the JetBlue-United partnership and should make the collaboration much more useful for frequent flyers. While it’s not a full alliance-style relationship, the reciprocal perks provide real value for loyal customers of both airlines.
