Kroger Chase Offers
On one hand, card-linked offers keep me busier than I want to be. On the other hand, I like the savings. With a simple click in my online account, I’m able to link a variety of useful offers from banks like Amex, Chase, and Bank of America. The extra time to stay organized on their terms, the cards they’re attached to, when they expire, etc is another matter (yes, I know there are yet more apps for that). To avoid the noise, I primarily focus on offers for stores where we already shop. Indeed, for what seems like years, the most rewarding everyday versions for us have been Kroger Chase Offers. Within the organic spending realm, I’ve largely put two bonus categories on the back burner. So what are these offers, and why do they captivate me so much?
Two Solid Kroger Chase Offers
I, and many of you, have been targeted for the following Kroger Chase offers, currently and/or recently:
- Earn 10% cash back on your Kroger purchase, with a $9.00 cash back maximum.
- Earn 5% cash back on your Kroger purchase, with a $4.50 cash back maximum.
- Earn 5% cash back on your Kroger Fuel purchase, with a $3.50 cash back maximum.
- Earn 3% cash back on your Kroger Fuel purchase, with a $2.10 cash back maximum.
Superior Earning with the Offer
The savings from these Kroger Chase Offers alone often bests what other cards’ generous bonus categories provide. Cashout fans will note that they more simply, cheaply earn additional grocery savings with a 5% or 10% Kroger Chase offer than they would with an Amex Gold, 4x category, and 4.4% cash back. Similar goes for the 5% Kroger Fuel offer version, which is more than the Amex Business Gold’s 4x category. The 3% version is the lowest Kroger Fuel type I’ve found, but even that is competitive when you incorporate another angle, which is…
Stack with Card Earning
While a variety of banks’ cards work the same way, marrying Chase’s offer versions with everyday earning works out optimally. The bit of extra earning, even at the normal rates, often separates the total savings/rewards from the rest of the pack’s options. And often, I’ve noticed that we’re targeted for these Kroger Chase Offers on cards with compatible bonus categories, such as the IHG Premier’s 5x on gas station purchases stacked with the Kroger Fuel offer. The same goes for Freedom cards’ rotating categories when grocery stores or gas stations participate.
….and with Targeted Spend Offers
If that wasn’t enough, Chase periodically targets many cardholders with additional spend offers in specific categories. In the past, I’ve primarily received these offers on IHG cards (7x mostly, sometimes higher), but they’ve also been available to others on a variety of other Chase products.
Kroger Chase Offers Aplenty
But you may have noticed that these offers don’t cover much spending. What many spend on Kroger gas and groceries dwarfs those offer amounts. But I’ve found Chase has provided two easy workarounds.
I’ve noticed the same Chase cards are targeted over and over for similar offers. Discounting $90 in groceries is okay – doing so with $180 is better. Secondly, we’ve received these offers on all of our individual Chase card accounts over time. For my two-player household, that’s a considerable amount of offers across a dozen or so card accounts.
Stack with Other Discounts
Of course, individuals can stack digital and old school paper coupons with these card-linked offers. I enjoy redeeming Kroger fuel points while also using fuel offers. At the risk of stating the obvious, such card-linked offers are easily applicable to most any other existing stack play.
Time Shifting Spend
Kroger Chase Offers are so plentiful that I’ve found we sometimes don’t have enough organic spend at any given time to maximize these discounts. Instead, I often buy Kroger gift cards to max out these savings.
Yes, this ends up with me holding a stack of relatively low-denomination gift cards, but I don’t mind the minor work to consume them based on the savings we’re able to obtain.
Conclusion
Of course, my strategy doesn’t apply to everyone. Some may not have a Kroger location close by or prefer not to shop there for unrelated reasons. Unique opportunities with other cards, bonus categories, and one’s individual rewards priorities mean other options may come out ahead. And the time one puts into maximizing these card-linked offers may not be worth the savings. But I’ve been able to optimize a bit, so the extra effort is minimal. Regardless, I’m a weirdo who has fun doing this, anyway. I’m confident I’m not alone. Consider some easy wins with card-linked offers, from Kroger and otherwise.
