LATAM and Delta Offer Reciprocal Frequent Flyer Benefits
LATAM and Delta have signed a loyalty program agreement to offer reciprocal frequent flyer benefits to over 30 million LATAM PassĀ andĀ Delta SkyMiles members. This will enable their loyalty program members to earn and redeem miles to 300+ and 145 destinations respectively across five continents. Mileage earning rates havenāt been published yet.
The news comes after Delta Air Lines successfully completed an offer for approximately $1.9 billion for a 20% stake in LATAM.
The codeshare implementation kick off on April 1, 2020, but customers can buy tickets covered by the agreement already. Codesharing has now launched between Delta and LATAMās affiliates in Colombia, Ecuador and from March 29, 2020 in Peru. As a next step, the airline groups have reached agreement to launch codesharing between Delta and LATAMās affiliate in Brazil. This will begin in the first half of 2020, subject to governmental and regulatory approvals.
In addition to these benefits, the carriers are collaborating to expand reciprocal lounge access to more airports in the Americas. They are also working to establish mutual top tier recognition during the first half of 2020.
