Lowe’s Amex Offer

American Express has released a new Amex Offer for Lowe’s that will be great for purchasing gift cards. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

Get a one-time $30 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $150+ in one or more transactions in-store at Lowe’s or online at lowes.com or LowesForPros.com by 10/31/2016.

Key Terms

  • Valid at any participating location in the US. Not valid for e-gift card purchases.
  • Excludes corporate gift card purchases. Excludes ATGstores.com, Lowe’s Zone and Orchard Supply Hardware.
  • Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem.

How to Load

This offer is targeted and can only be loaded via the American Express website. I’m not sure if only specific types of cards are targeted, however I received it on my SPG Business card.

Analysis

Gift cards, gift cards and gift cards. This deal gives you 20% off, which gives you some room to work with. eBay gift cards would have been nicer before all of the recent changes, but they do remain an option. Lowe’s has a ton of other gift cards as well. Here is what I bought during a previous Lowe’s Amex Offer. Of course, 20% off home improvement may be attractive as well.

  1. I pretty much never get the offers that would be useful to me. I only even check anymore when I see a post like this. Never any like Lowes, Amazon, etc.

Likely to be dropping the PRG when AF comes due.

  2. I got it on my SPG Business and all my authorized users got it for my old Blue Cash (but I didn’t). Go figure.

  3. Tried to get Variable Load Visa: didn’t work. Same with Mastercard. They couldn’t figure out what the issue is buying them: the purchase wouldn’t total, so it had nothing to do with credit card payment. Then tried Shell: came up with tax, so passed on that. Finally bought Vons, which I’ll sell as Safeway at 92.5%.
