Macy’s Amex Offer

Macy’s and American Express have released a new targeted offer that could be of use to some. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

Get a one-time $15 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $100+ in one or more transactions in-store at Macy’s or online at macys.com by 9/25/2017.

Key Terms

  • Enrollment limited.
  • Valid at any participating location in the US and US Territories.
  • Not valid at outlet locations (in-store and online). Excludes Nespresso boutiques, pop-up stores, parking garages, USPS, Stride Rite, Macy’s Bridal Salons, Macy’s Backstage, Macy’s Travel, Visit Macy’s, Shop For a Cause, New Zoom kiosks/vending machines, restaurants inside stores, delivery services, WorryNoMore Protection service, Nineteenth Amendment, Men’s Wearhouse Tuxedo Shops, Macy’s Shop at Home and design services and corporate sales.
  • Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US. Offer is non-transferable. Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem.

How to Load

Similar to the November, 2016 Macy’s offer, this is somewhat targeted, but I did receive it on most of my personal cards. You have to go to the Amex website or app to load it to your card(s).

Maximizing

15% off at Macy’s might not seem like much on the surface, but they often run 15-25% off coupons plus they have been known to have the occasional monster portal bonus. I have seen 10X+ from mileage portals and up to 15% cashback before. In other words, you can stack this with other promotions they may run for Labor Day, etc. Also, depending on your bulk relationships, you might be able to come close to breakeven on buying/selling Macy’s gift cards.

Conclusion

Just like last year’s offer, this Macy’s deal has dropped at a strange time, but I’m glad it is back. While it isn’t the best offer of the year, there is some opportunity for personal savings and perhaps even a little gift card dealing.

  1. I utilized too by buying $100 GC. Listed it at TPM for 85.5. Got $9 cashback at ebates. Total 9.5 profit.

  2. Thanks. Ordered a $100 gift card, no restrictions. Will use that card via a shopping portal when the time comes. Assuming Macy’s doesn’t go out of business….
