Marriott Already Hit with Two Class-Action Lawsuits Over Data Breach

Two class-action lawsuits already have been filed against Marriott after the hotel chain revealed a massive breach last week that affected 500 million customers. One of the suits is seeking billions in damages. But that’s not the end of it, as more could be on the way.

Lawyers in Oregon filed a class-action lawsuit on Friday. One of the people names in the suit had noticed unauthorized purchases on his credit card recently and believes it was due to the hack. A Baltimore law firm also filed a separate suit.

Marriott is offering affected guests free membership in a personal information monitoring services, WebWatcher. Marriott has set up a website as well, to provide information to guests, along with a dedicated call center. They will even pay for new passports for those whose numbers were exposed. The hotel also says that it will email affected individuals.

If you reserved a room through Marriott’s Starwood reservation system between 2014 and Nov. 30, 2018, you may be eligible for a free Marriott data breach class action lawsuit investigation. Fill out the form here.
