Marriott Rewards Premier Business Credit Card Review
Marriott Rewards has been in the news a lot lately with the SPG merger and combining the two rewards program. There are also rumors of a new Marriott Business card being launched although it most likely just a revamp.
With the SPG merger Marriott is now the largest hotel chain in the world taking up over 1 out of every 15 rooms available for rent. That means you shouldn’t have any problems finding a place to use your points.
Current Sign Up Bonus vs Historical High
The current sign up bonus is as follows:
- 75,000 Marriott Rewards points
- After spending $3000 within the first 3 months
- The $99 annual fee IS waived
There have been 85,000 point offers in the past but the annual fee was not waived. Most would value 10,000 Marriott points at less than $99 so this is the better offer.
Bonus Restrictions
The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier business credit card does not fall under the dreaded Chase 5/24 rule. Since it is a business card it shouldn’t count towards your 5/24 count either.
The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card also has the standard 24 month bonus restriction language:
“This product is available to you if you do not have this card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months.”
It is worth noting that Chase has been shutting down accounts of people with too many recent applications and for people with to much credit available to them across all banks. These are two things to be aware of before applying.
Earning Structure
The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card comes with the following earning structure:
- 5X Marriott Reward points for every dollar spent at a Marriott & SPG hotel
- 2X Marriott Reward points for airline tickets purchased directly with the airline, and at car rental agencies, restaurants, office supply stores, and for internet, cable and phone services purchases
- 1X Marriott Reward points on everything else
Cardmember Perks
The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business card comes with the following perks:
- Free night award on cardmember anniversary for any category 1-5 hotel
- No foreign transaction fees
- Silver Elite Status
- Get Gold Status if you spend $50,000 each account year
- Purchase Protection – Covers your new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft up to $10,000 per claim, up to $50,000 per account.
- Lost Luggage Reimbursement – Up to $3,000 in coverage if the airline loses you or your immediate family member’s luggage.
- Trip Delay Reimbursement – Delays more than 12 hours or requires an overnight stay you costs are covered up to $500 per ticket.
- Baggage Delay Insurance – Essential purchases like toiletries and clothing for baggage delays over 6 hours are covered, up to $100 a day for 5 days.
Fees
The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business card has a $99 annual fee which is waived the first year.
Sign Up Bonus Value – $450
Marriott points are valued in the $0.006 per point range which would put the 75,000 point welcome bonus worth $450. Since the annual fee is waived with this offer you would keep the full value of the bonus.

Summary
The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card offers a decent sign up bonus, a free night that offsets the annual fee, and a below average earning structure. The feather in the card’s cap is that it does not fall under Chase’s 5/24 rule like the personal Marriott card does. That makes it obtainable for everyone with a business.
The waived annual fee makes this a better offer than the standard 85,000 point bonus with the $99 annual fee. The free night at a category 1-5 should more than offset the $99 annual fee each year thereafter.
Silver status does not get you much in the way of perks besides a few bonus points on paid stays. The $50,000 in spend it takes to reach Gold Status is $15,000 more than the threshold with the personal card, and $40,000 more than it is with the Ritz-Carlton card. If you are looking to gain status the Ritz-Carlton card is your best bet.
Long Term Keeper
For most the free night will offset the $99 annual fee. If you find yourself struggling to use it then this card would not be a long term keeper for you. Outside of paid stays with Marriott there isn’t an area where putting spend on the card makes sense.
Conclusion
The Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card is an option worth considering since it is not restricted by Chase’s 5/24 rule like the personal card is. The 75,000 point sign up bonus is good but not great when compared to other business cards. The waived annual fee is a nice touch with this current offer.
While the card is worth getting whether or not it is worth keeping depends on what kind of value you get out of the annual free night certificate.

Thanks! We will update it once the changes happen.
Do you get 15 nights credit or silver status?
On the offer page it just says Silver Status but I believe that it comes in the form of 15 nights credit (at least for the time being).
The 15 nights is confirmed here by Frequent Miler https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/2018/05/13/more-answers-for-the-marriott-spg-transition/
