Conclusion
Past hotel Amex Offers have worked on gift cards if you purchase them at the front desk, however there is no guarantee that will work with this offer. As noted above, gift cards are technically excluded from the terms. Could also be useful for personal use if you have any trips to Vegas coming up.

I booked rooms during the last MGM promo and the deposit covered the minimum spend and i got cashback. I now plan to use my card to pay for the rest of the cost on arrival to double dip for the same reservation. Does anyone see an issue why this wouldn’t work?
