I can trace the Maldives fanatic attraction to “A View From the Wing”. Gary Leff just pushes the Park Hyatt Maldives as if there isn’t any other place in the world worth going. He does the same thing for Park Hyatt Vendome. That aside, the Maldives is attractive to many, because it is supposed to be one of the first places to disappear after sea levels rise.
The Points Guy was never one of my favorites. I considered Brian Kelly very arrogant, and his info just a repeat of other bloggers. That said, many of his other staffers are not any better. Both TPG and Gary Leff are just credit card pimps. Their info really isn’t that valuable. And Gary Leff’s blog has become a home for right wing politics.
From where I live, Southwest isn’t any value to me. If I have to travel 170 miles to a major airport, then when I get to that airport, I will fly a regular Big3 carrier.
I enjoy the MTM Youtube shows, please keep them going.
Thanks for watching our YouTube channel John – I am glad you are enjoying them!
[…] podcasts a lot, but one of my favorite blogs (Miles to Memories) has a weekly podcast. This week on their podcast, they talk about the big corporation behind The Points […]
I genuinely despise the points guy and feel like he ruined the content. He has made it all about himself and his black card and look at me attitude. The content these days is horrible and biased towards generating referrals.
I came to the party late in terms of TPG and fairly soon after they eliminated the comments. That was a deal breaker for me and I just don’t read their stuff anymore. It did seem corporate and also seemed to be pushing a particular political agenda. I really hate it when companies do that. Wish I had been there in the early years. Thanks for the discussion on it on your podcast.
I love your podcast. It’s fun and fresh and reflects great energy.
Thanks for listening Mary and we are glad that you found us and enjoy it 🙂
I don’t listen to the podcast much but I will just for the TPG commentary. They used to at least have unique content and the ability to engage with comments. Whoever is running it now doesn’t seem to care.
Just curious! Who had recently left TPG? Yeah, I noticed almost all the new staff looks right out of college. TPG was good in its early years. For me, I got started with Flyertalk though, it’s still pretty darn good. I don’t find MMS all that useful anymore, after the founder had left also.
Richard Kerr is the most recent to leave.
I am pretty sure Richard Kerr returned to TPG
He did a few years ago but left last week again.

TPG was great when it was just Bryan but now it’s just corporate, especially eliminating comments, and never any dissenting views on their sponsors (everything is great). Thanks for all you guys do, the honest opinions, and love the video reviews as well!
A lot of good value in the early years for sure.
