Posts That Caught My Eye
The AA awards you should book ASAP
Some great points about US Airways availability and what will happen after the merger. You can almost always find US Airways first class availability on just about any route. Will this continue when their flights become coded as AA?
What Flight Attendants REALLY Think of Your In-Flight Drinking
Nothing earth shattering here, but I thought it might be an interesting read for the jetset crowd. I did find it interesting that coach passengers get cut off from liquor long before first class passengers. It makes a ton of sense and most of the stories you hear of rowdy drunk passengers do tend to come from the back of the plane. HT: Point Me to the Plane
United pays up on Bug Bounty program
Makes me wish I was a programmer so I could scoop up some miles. One person has confirmed they were given 1,000,000 miles for finding a high severity bug. Thing about how many Star Alliance first and business class flights you could take! 🙂
Behind IHG Rewards Club’s New Top-Tier Membership Program
In case you haven’t heard, IHG’s new top tier will be called “Spire”. Yawn. This article is interesting though because it goes a little deeper into the future of the program and how they are adding features and alternative ways to spend points in order to build brand loyalty. Definitely not revolutionary, but interesting nonetheless.
Great Deals
- Just a reminder that the Staples Mastercard negative cost deal starts tomorrow. You can find out all of the details here in case you missed them.
-
Shoprite: $10 Store Credit with $50 eBay Gift Card Purchase (among others), 7/12-7/25 – This is a great deal if you have a Shoprite nearby. I get really jealous with these regional deals that leave me out in the cold. 🙁
- Entertainment books are on sale again. This time you can get the first for $8 and additional books for $5. Shipping is free and select portals can help you save more.
Have a great night!

Gawd damnit!! 1MM Miles!? Makes me feel so worthless..
Its about time airlines did this. All major airlines should be posting up bounty programs just like how badass Silicon Valley startups do it over at the world’s largest friendly hacker community – HackerOne. But they also pay in Bitcoin so its an appreciating asset rather than massive devaluing airline miles worse than a car.
But for United. I am not surprised. You know why they probably got smart?

Furthermore, this airline doesnt make me feel that great given 9/11 WTC attacks involved United and AA flights although it couldve been any airplane. Would be so damn crazy if they were saving up frequent flyer miles and trying to obtain elite status so their plans would go smoother and their ride more comfortable while they were killing people.
Anyway, you know what Shawn, train your son and daughter to be the BIGGEST TECH GEEKS of all time. Now is the time bro! haha. Make them hackers and have them earn miles much faster and easier than playing the points and miles game!!
But in all seriousness, the future is in tech. Theres really no doubt about that. When you and I are 70 years old.. I am excited and afraid of the world we will live in.
