Hey everyone. How are you?

Hey MtM readers! I just wanted to check in to give you an update on a few things that are really top of mind right now. So much in the world has changed for everyone, but it has definitely thrown our community and industry into turmoil. That won’t stop us though.

We Are Still Here

We are moving forward full steam ahead despite the many setbacks specific to this industry. We lost many of our credit card links (along with most sites) and ad revenues have plummeted, but we will overcome those obstacles. How can you help? Just keep reading and sharing our articles on social media with your friends! We do benefit from use of our Amazon link as well if you care to use it, but reading and interacting is the most important part.

The Amazing MtM Team Ain’t Going Nowhere

When I started this blog in 2013 I had no idea that the universe would put so many incredibly fun, kind and talented people in my path. Mark and our entire team bring a wide range of unique perspectives to the topics we cover here and I am so proud at how we have been able to take a personal approach to covering miles/points. We share our successes, our failures and our frustrations because we love this stuff just like all of you!

Despite these massive changes, it’s very important to me that we keep the team together. As of now I have made the decision to keep everyone writing and producing content that satisfies, entertains and educates. We’re also covering the most relevant news that seems to be important to all of you (and us) as well.

The MtM Podcast & Community Rocks On

I know many of you aren’t driving in the car anymore, but we are continuing to produce the Miles to Memories podcast whenever you are ready to listen. In our effort to bring you the best info, we pivoted from our usual format this last week to talk with an expert from Brad’s Deals on saving money during this crisis. We are all in this together and hopefully the content we create whether it be blog posts or podcasts helps to enrich your life.

Our three Facebook groups are still going strong as well if you need to chat!

Isolation & Social Distancing Is A Struggle

On a personal note, I am starting to struggle with this isolation. I am a HUGE introvert by nature and I work at home, so one would think that this naturally should be a fit, but it’s not. This feels way different. Travel for me is a way to force myself into the world. It overwhelms me in all of the right ways and on some level gives me that social interaction I otherwise would probably avoid.

March 11 was my wedding anniversary and Jasmine and I went out to dinner to celebrate. The feeling in the restaurant was somber and strange and we both felt we shouldn’t really be there. We enjoyed the dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, but that was the last time I was in a public space. I miss it. Sure, I have driven around and gotten out within the confines of my car, but I am not free in the world and that is messing with me. Nothing serious, but I wanted to share in case any of you are struggling with the same issues. You are not alone.

We Still Aren’t Covering In-Store Deals

Many readers have reached out to ask why we aren’t covering the latest Visa gift card deals like some other sites. The simple answer is we drew a line in the sand and have decided not to cross it. We feel covering these deals is incredibly irresponsible. Sure we could write them up and wink to tell you “not to go out to liquidate”, but we would know what you were doing.

Read our editorial policy below. I’m proud of it and we will not start covering in-store deals again (or deals that force you in-store to liquidate) until we feel it is socially responsible to do so.

Our Responsibility: How We Are Changing Our Coverage of Deals Due to Coronavirus

Bottom Line

It has been quite an interesting month to say the least. Jasmine, Ellie and I were supposed to visit Hawaii and then move on to Europe for a 1+ month long roadtrip. All blown up. Things have changed in the reselling world and this blog has faced tons of challenges. But despite all of that my incredible team is still here to bring you the best of miles/points every single day. They are awesome and so are all of you! Thanks for being there.

Now with all of that said, how are all of you doing? Are you okay? Let us know how you are doing with all of this. And let us know in the comments if there is anything we can do or anything you would like us to cover. Hopefully we can work together to make this time pass a little bit quicker and a little bit easier.
