New Amex Transfer Bonuses: 30% to Virgin Atlantic, 20% to Hilton
American Express has launched two new Membership Rewards transfer bonuses, giving cardholders extra value when moving points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and Hilton Honors. Let’s see the details.
Virgin Atlantic
The first offer provides a 30% bonus when transferring Membership Rewards points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. With the promotion, every 1,000 Membership Rewards points becomes 1,300 Virgin Points. The transfer bonus is available through July 31, 2026.
This is a bonus that we see once or twice a year and has been as high as 40% in the past. The same transfer bonus is also available at Chase, so maybe you can get together enough Virgin Points to book Necker Island.
Hilton Honors
Amex is also offering a 20% bonus on transfers to Hilton Honors. Normally, Membership Rewards points transfer to Hilton at a 1:2 ratio. During the promotion, 1,000 Membership Rewards points become 2,400 Hilton Honors points instead of the usual 2,000. This offer runs through July 14, 2026.
This is normally not a good transfer option even when the transfer bonus is higher. But it can be an option for those looking for a few thousand points towards a redemption.
Conclusion
Virgin Atlantic transfer bonuses are generally the more exciting of the two, since Virgin Points can be redeemed for partner flights on airlines such as ANA, Air France-KLM, Delta and others.
Hilton’s bonus is less compelling, but it could make sense if you already have a specific redemption in mind and need to top off your account.
As always, it’s usually best to transfer points only when you have an immediate use for them rather than speculatively moving flexible Membership Rewards points into a loyalty program. These transfers are not reversible.
