As a Qantas Club member, you get benefits such as an extra free checked bag, better earning and dedicated service. But you also get lounge access, and more importantly for those in the United States, you get access to Admirals Club.
When travelling with American Airlines, as a Qantas Club member you and a guest are welcome at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. Simply present your Qantas Club card together with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. Both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on a flight marketed and operated by American Airlines.
Conclusion
This is a cheap option for American Airlines Admirals Club access. You will pay just over $200 for a Qantas Club annual membership, and it doesn’t look like they’re charging the initiation fee of about $50.

I don’t think this is accurate. All of the other language on the Qantas site (aside from the linked page) is worded more clearly and the club membership is not going to get someone from Dallas into an AA lounge who’s just flying on a random AA flight out of DFW that day. On the linked page, all of the other scenarios specifically mention connecting to/from a Qantas flight. In isolation, the language seems to say what you think it says. In context within the same page, and in context of the rest of the lounge info pages on the Qantas site, it’s pretty clear this isn’t going to work.
Or to say it another way, I’m sure not going to spend the $204 to be the data point to confirm it. The odds are much more in my favor to fly to Vegas and bet it all on green.
