Racking up Points Just Got a Little More Expensive

There’s bad news for those who like to purchase their Visa gift cards online. Yazing announced on Twitter that GiftCards.com will no longer offer cashback through shopping portals on Visa Gift Card purchases. GiftCards.com should disappear from portals starting May 1, 2018.

Currently you’re able to get as much as 1.25% cashback on these purchases from shopping portals, but it seems that starting next month this option will be gone. DoC also notes that Topcashback has announced on their site that cashback on Visa Gift cards will end in a few days. That makes it all more believable that GiftCards.com will be removed from all portals.

This change will not affect Mastercard gift cards for now. You can continue to earn as much as 1.25% on those purchases from GiftCards.com.

Conclusion

You have a few days left to take advantage of cashback from shopping portals when you buy Visa Gift cards. That 1.25% is a decent amount that takes care of the activation fee. Sad to see yet another option go, but at least Mastercard gift cards are not yet affected.
