Saks Fifth Avenue Platinum Credit

Final Days to Use $50 Saks Fifth Avenue Platinum Credit

The Amex Platinum card is a premium credit card that offers tons of perks but also has a $550 annual fee. You do get a lot of benefits that offset that fee. It comes with Centurion and Priority Pass lounge access, $200 in Uber credits per year, various elite statues, a $200 airline fee credit each calendar year and more. And they recently added a $100 Saks Fifth Avenue credit to the fold but you get $50 every 6 months.  It happens to be a few days away from the first $50 credit of the year expiring so if you haven’t used it yet you better hustle!

This resets on 6/30 so be sure to reuse it by then.

You need to spend at least $50 and you will receive a $50 discount when you use your Amex Platinum card. It’s as simple as that. You will need to first register here if you haven’t already.

One $50 credit will be available for the first half of the year, from January through June, and a second $50 will become available during the second half of the year.

Saks Fifth Avenue Platinum Credit shopping

What Works?

You can easily purchase something online and have it shipped to you.  If you do this be sure to stack shopping portals for additional savings.  It does not appear purchasing gift cards online triggers the credit but buying them in the store does!

Last year I stacked up $200 in gift cards from holding two Platinum cards.  I then used that “freeish” $200 to purchase my wife a necklace for the holidays.  You could also resell the gift cards on Raise or somewhere similar.

I do not believe Saks Off Fifth counts for the credit either.

Final Thoughts

American Express does not plan on people maxing out these perks.  That is why they break them up monthly or twice a year etc.  They are hoping for breakage!  Don’t let that happen…max out these perks to recoup your annual fee. You could get around $40 cash simply for buying and selling the gift card.  Or buy yourself a new shirt or top and get portal cash back for your “free” purchase.  Just don’t let it go to waste!

    • Yeah personal only. The business card has the $100 Dell perk that works the same way so be sure to use that if you have the biz card too.
