Shanghai Disneyland Reopening Video

In just a few hours Shanghai Disneyland will reopen its doors for the first time since January! The Walt Disney Company and the Chinese government announced the reopening of the park, although it will come with severe limitations. Among the restrictions will be huge capacity cuts, the loss of some live shows and everyone being required to wear a mask.

Thanks to a video put out by the resort and Chinese media, we now know what social distancing actually means in reality for a park like Shanghai Disneyland. In the 15 minute video released by Disney, we can see how many aspects of a normal park experience are gone, however there is still some Disney magic.

A Look Into What We Can Expect When Our Parks Open?

In the video you start from the park’s secondary entrance in Micketown and work your way through the park including the new character procession (it replaces parades and close-up character interactions) and see how Disney is handling social distancing on rides. For some rides that means taping off seats while for others like Pirates of the Caribbean they are using every other row.

Disney has other measures in place such as social distancing markers all over the park and sanitizing stations everywhere as well. Ride capacity is limited as mentioned, but so is shop and restaurant capacity. I’m sure they have a lot to learn about running a theme park in the COVID-19 era, but I’m glad a Disney park is finally reopening. Enjoy!

Shanghai Disneyland Reopening Video – Bottom Line

Shanghai Disneyland is reopening, but the theme park experience doesn’t quite look like it has in the past. Still, Disney will do its best to balance safety and fun in Shanghai and no doubt what they learn there will go a long way towards helping them reopen Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

What do you think about the Shanghai Disneyland reopening guidelines and social distancing? Do they take all of the fun out of Disney or do you wish you could go right now? Let us know below!

  1. Lol. The gentleman in the video speaking fluent English starts the video by touching the metal security dividers, and then he places his hand on one of the Disney employees’ shoulders…!!! LOL. He definitely needs to be re-trained re: his hands being vectors for spreading. I’m dumbfounded no one told him this before taping the video.
