Understanding the value of KrisFlyer miles

Singapore Airlines and Marriott Bonvoy Introduce Point Transfers

Singapore Airlines and Marriott Hotels have launched point transfers from their respective programs, KrisFlyer and Marriott Bonvoy.

The transfer option is already available and you can convert KrisFlyer miles and Marriott Bonvoy points easily.

For every 2 KrisFlyer miles you convert, you’ll receive 1 Marriott Bonvoy point. There’s a  minimum requirement of 3,000 for a transfer, with a total maximum of 180,000 KrisFlyer miles per calendar.

If you’re looking to transfer from Marriott Bonvoy to KrisFlyer, for every 3 Bonvoy points you get 1 KrisFlyer mile. That is the normal conversion ratio in the Bonvoy program for airline partners. You also get the 5,000 bonus miles when you convert at least 60,000 points.

Conclusion

Neither transfer ratio is very exciting. You can convert 2 KrisFlyer miles to 1 Bonvoy point, or 3 Bonvoy points to 1 KrisFlyer mile.

But, having more transfer partners is always a good thing for a program, as it give you more options to use your miles and points. Even with the bad value, these transfer options can come in handy if you just need some more miles or points for a redemption, or just have a few points left in the program and don’t have any other ways to use them.
