Personal Southwest Credit Cards Have 50K Bonuses that Count for Companion Pass!

Southwest has increased bonuses on the two personal credit cards. These are not the highest bonuses we have seen on these credit cards but they could still be worth it to get your Companion Pass.

Chase Southwest Premier Card 50K Offer

The Offer: Earn 50,000 bonus points after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months after account opening. Offer is only available through referrals.

Card Details

  • $99 annual fee applied to first billing statement.
  • Earn 2 Points per $1 spent on Southwest Airlines flights and Hotel & Car Rental partners
  • 1 Point per $1 Spent on all other purchases
  • 6,000 anniversary points after your Cardmember anniversary
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • 1,500 Tier Qualifying Points towards A-List and A-List Perferred status for every $10,000 spent, up to $100,000.

Chase Southwest Plus 50K Points Offer

The Offer: Earn 50,000 points after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account. See offer page.

Card Details

  • $69 annual fee applied to first billing statement.
  • Earn 2 Points per $1 spent on Southwest Airlines flights and Hotel & Car Rental partners
  • 1 Point per $1 Spent on all other purchases
  • 3,000 anniversary points after your Cardmember anniversary

Need to Know

  • Southwest points are often worth over 1.5 cents each towards airfare, so for many the extra 10,000 points might be worth more than the $100.
  • Points earned from this bonus DO COUNT towards the Southwest Companion Pass.
  • These cards are known to be subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule.

Eligibility

This product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.

Conclusion

These are good offers on both cards and are especially useful to get the Southwest Companion Pass at a good time, since it will last close to two years. But we have seen better offers of 60K in the past. The 60K offer is however available for the business version.

The personal cards are subject to the Chase 5/24 Rule so most of us won’t be eligible.

  1. Wow, just last week we got both the Business (60k) and Personal card (40k). Any chance that if we call, they’ll up it to 50k bonus? Rather frustrating…

      • Wanted to give you an update- the agent didn’t think the offer was supposed to be out until Jan.11th, but if my husband and I spend the increased MS of $1000 more ($2000 instead of $1000) within 90 days and then call back, they will increase the points to $50k (from $40k). The Chase rep was going to note it in our file, so we will do that right away. Thanks so much for the info and the encouragement. Really appreciate your posts!
