Southwest Extends Expiration Date for Free Drink Coupons
During the coronavirus pandemic, most travelers have been worried about canceling and rebooking flights, making sure they get refunds, or that miles and status don’t expire. But for some Southwest fans, there is also another perk which was up in the air. The status of free drink coupons!
Southwest has quietly addressed those worries with a post in its community blog. “Once service resumes, any drink coupons set to expire throughout 2020 will now expire December 31, 2020” the post says.
If you’re holding a recently expired coupon, or one that is about to expire, you don’t need to do anything for these changes to go into effect. Just keep your original coupon safe and present it onboard once inflight beverage service resumes.
Southwest typically gives out free drink coupons to frequent fliers for every 10 one-way flights. The program and in-flight service was suspended during the pandemic.
