Southwest’s Schedule Extended (Tomorrow) Through January 4, 2016
Booking advanced reservations on Southwest can be difficult since the schedule is normally only available on average about 6 months out. Fortunately Southwest is opening up their schedule tomorrow all the way through January 4, 2016. That means about 8 months of advanced booking availability which is very nice. (As of today it is only available through 10/30/15.)
Thanksgiving & Christmas
With tomorrow’s extension, you will have the possibility of booking any Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and other holiday trips. Since Southwest will refund you the difference if the price drops, it is generally good to get in early for flights during those peak times. Unfortunately with Southwest’s new dynamic award pricing, flights may now cost more points than ever before.
Conclusion
Hopefully Southwest’s dynamic pricing won’t put a damper on holiday flights, but be prepared to pay a little more points wise. I still think it is wise to book early and don’t forget to check regularly to see if the price drops so you can get a refund. Happy booking!

Do they start releasing the seats midnight?
I’m not sure of the exact time, but in the past seats have normally been released by 9am Eastern, but the times seems to vary. I’ll leave a comment here in the morning when I notice they are available.
