150 Free SPG Starpoints for Securing Your Account
Starwood Preferred Guest is offering 150 points if you login to your account and select four security questions. Due to a number of recent hacks, loyalty programs are beefing up their security which is a good thing. SPG announced this promo on Flyertalk and here are the key terms:
- Bonus offer: Member can earn a onetime bonus of 150 Starpoints after selecting and answering four (4) security questions on spg.com from October 8, 2015, through October 31, 2015 (the “promotion period”).
- This promotion is not transferable. Offer available to existing SPG members only (as of 10/8/15).
- Bonus Starpoints will be credited to the member’s account within 2–4 weeks of the close of the promotion on October 31, 2015.
How to Set Your Security Questions
To set your four security questions, simply login to your SPG account and click “My Profile” under “Manage My Account”.
Once on the “My Profile” page, simply click “Edit” on the “Security Questions” section.
You can now answer the four questions. Most of the choices are travel related such as, “What is your favorite Starwood hotel?” or “Where did you go on your honeymoon?” Once the questions are answered, click “Save Changes” and you will have 150 free points and a more secure account! This may also have the side benefit of extending the life of your points.

300 Free La Quinta Points in 30 Seconds
La Quinta is also offering 300 free points for watching a video, however there is a way to bypass that completely. To get the free points, simply click this link and enter your Member # and last name. You will instantly receive confirmation and the points will post right away as well.
In the past these promos haven’t worked to extend your La Quinta points expiration, however I was successful in getting my points extended simply by asking very very nicely! If you are interested in watching the full video to “earn” the 300 points, you can find it here.
Conclusion
While small chunks of points aren’t immediately worth much, they do add up over time. I am still waiting for my first La Quinta redemption, but I already have over 7,000 points earned completely for free through promotions like this. Hopefully I’ll get to use them someday. At least I know I will use the Starpoints!

For La Quinta or SPG? La Quinta should post instantly and I believe it works for everyone. With SPG it is not targeted, but the points will take 2-4 weeks per the terms.
You sure this isnt targeted? I didnt get any points even after log out and back in. There was also no wording anywhere that mentioned the points/promo.
