(Video) Crazy Spirit Airlines Brawl at Detroit Metro Airport Over Luggage Sizes
Travel is stressful; travel in 2021 is really stressful. We often see people doing crazy things at airports because their stress levels are at all time highs during travel. They could be nervous about flying or just not understand the airline’s rules and lose their cool because of it. That is what happened at Detroit Metro Airport in the North terminal over the weekend. A brawl broke out between a few passengers and Spirit Airlines gate agents over a carry on bag being too big before flight 646 from Detroit to Atlanta. When this happens Spirit Airlines will hit you with a huge fee at the door and force you to check it. Things got heated and a fight broke out after Spirit Airlines closed the doors and denied the passengers boarding.
Two Spirit Airlines employees were injured, one taken to the hospital, in the fight and two passengers were arrested. A third passenger was involved but was only cited for the incident.
Spirit Airlines released the following statement according to Deadline Detroit:
“All of us at Spirit wish the agents a speedy recovery and thank them for their courage and professionalism,” it added in an email statement. “We also thank law enforcement for responding quickly and arresting those involved in the attack. This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place of business. We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind and these passengers will be banned from any future travel with Spirit.”

Nice try. Been going on during the orange administration.
Spirit the Greyhound of the skies!
It’s just one more reason that I don’t fly any more if I can avoid it. And, oddly enough, I’m an ex naval aviator so it’s not a fear of flying so much as having to be a part of the idiocy that seems to pervade the people and my fellow travelers.
Spirit again…
Yup, I think so much of it is because people don’t spend the time learning their rules before flying them and then get upset when those rules are enforced.
I don’t think rules mattered too much to those people anyway. There’s also a rule that you’re not allowed to assault people but ehhhhh.
That’s the Spirit
