Synchrony Mastercard Spending Offer

Toys ‘R Us is going out of business. While a final closing date has not been set, I suspect that all of the stores will be closed in the coming weeks. With the end of Toys ‘R Us also comes the end of the Toys ‘R Us credit card issued by Synchrony.

As I mentioned a few weeks back, current Toys ‘R Us credit card holders actually aren’t getting a bad deal. Synchrony is converting these cards to a straight 2% cash back product with no annual fee. (Full details here.) While 2% back isn’t bad, they are also sweetening the deal to make you use your new card.

The other day I received this offer via email:

Synchrony Mastercard Spending Offer

I don’t believe this offer is targeted and do believe that all Toys ‘R Us cardholders received it. Make sure to check your email!

Analysis

This really is an amazing offer. Spend $250 and get $105 cashback. That amounts to a rebate of 42% on a card that admittedly hasn’t seen any action lately. I’ll definitely activate my new card when it comes and spend the $250. After that I might continue to use it occasionally since 2% isn’t a bad cash back rate considering there isn’t an annual fee.

  1. Unfortunately I have not received that (or any) offer. I was told via Chat that they send out offers “in batches” and that it should come (if at all) after the new cards are activated. But mine have not arrived yet. Hopefully I’ll get the same offer … or better! 🙂
