Target REDcard Bonus

The Target REDcard bonus is back again this month! This time around Target is offering $40 off a $40 purchase. It is simply $40 free if you sign up for their debit card. If you have had the card before but closed it you should be eligible again. And besides the debit card, there’s also a Reloadable card, which gives another bonus opportunity. Let’s check the details.

Here are the terms of the deal:

I have taken advantage of a similar deal in the past.  I don’t think you can have 2 debit REDcards though. But if you close your Target debit card first you should be able to reapply. Plus you can separately apply for the debit and the reloadable card, and get the bonus twice. That’s a total of $160 in free spend, and no hard pull.

Final Thoughts

If you shop at Target often and have never done one of these deals this is a good offer. We have seen better in the past though.

There are three option to choose from; a credit card, debit card and a reloadable card. The credit card would result in a hard pull, which is not worth $80 bucks. But  the other two cards are a good way to get a total of $160 in free spend at Target and save 5% on most purchases.

  1. debit and reliable each get $40, so that’s $80 total. How do you figure $160? Do you mean applying for each one twice?
