Targeted Chase Offers that Bypass 5/24
Update 8/21/21:
Per Doctor of Credit there are reports of these black star, fixed APR and green star just for you offers failing to bypass Chase 5/24. This was one of the few ways to get a Chase card when you were over Chase 5/24 but it seems that Chase closed that loophole.
Original Post
Chase has one of the most restrictive policies when it comes to credit card applications. Chase has a 5/24 rule which states that you will not be approved for most Chase cards if you have opened 5 or more revolving accounts (including all credit cards, lines of credit, etc.) in the past 24 months. You can read more about that rule here.
However, it is possible to get around this rule. One way is through “Just For You” offers that show up online in some accounts. The offers show up on personal accounts, with a green star. They should also have a fixed APR as part of the offer (instead of a range). We’ve seen these offer in the last couple of months, and now more people are being targeted. It’s even better if you see offers that say “You’re already approved”.
The signup bonuses are the same as the public offers. After applying for one card the other offers will disappear, so make sure you go for the best option first. The new 100,000 points offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred is also showing up. That will probably be the first choice for most people.
Conclusion
These are targeted offers, but hopefully some of you will see them in your Chase accounts. More people are being targeted, so if you have checked in the past, it might be worth another look. This could be a great way to get that big 100K Sapphire Preferred bonus, if you are not eligible otherwise.
