TransUnion Says Breach Has Exposed Consumers’ Financial Information

TransUnion is one of the big three consumer credit reporting agencies, based in Chicago, Illinois.

The company collects and assembles information on over 1 billion consumers in more than thirty countries around the world. That also includes more than 200 million Americans.

On November 7, 2022, TransUnion LLC reported a data breach with the Massachusetts Attorney General. According to TransUnion, the breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers and driver’s license numbers being compromised.

TransUnion has also sent out data breach letters to all affected parties, informing them of the incident and what they can do to protect themselves. The total number of people affected by the TransUnion data breach has not been revealed.

Letter were sent out on November 7, so I would assume that whoever is affected must have received them already. However, TransUnion has yet to post a notice about the breach on its website as of the time of writing.

  1. I’d say that 200 million is a pretty big chunk of the adult population. How many here have received notice from them, and what is their advice?

  2. TransUnion was started and still owned nearly half by the Pritzker family, the same family that started Hyatt Hotels. The rich should have their money taken from them and distributed to the poor, just like AOC want.
