Ultimate Rewards Value Will Go up to 1.75c on Chase Travel Portal

Are CSR Portal Redemptions Getting 15% Better? Rumored Increase To 1.75 Cents Per Point

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are one of the most valuable currencies. The reason for that is versatility and value that you can get out them.  One of the easiest options to use your points for travel is the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal. Depending an which Chase credit card you have, you can get a value of anywhere between 1 cent and 1.5 cents per each Ultimate Rewards point.

But that could soon change, and for the better. A rumor, coming from FICO Forums, says that the value of Ultimate Rewards points could be increased for those who have a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. If this rumor is true, you would be able to redeem points at 1.5 cents and 1.75 cents respectively through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal.

Not only would this boost the value of the CSP and CSR cards but also other Ultimate Rewards earning credit cards such as Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Unlimited. You can transfer those points to a CSP or CSR card and use them at a value of 1.5-1.75 cents each.

Conclusion

This is clearly just a rumor, and it’s described as coming for a Facebook Award Travel group. It’s hard to see Chase adding this value to Ultimate Rewards points and not balancing it out by taking something away. But let’s hope for the best. Maybe the rumor is true and maybe it’s just their way of making the Ultimate Rewards program even more competitive.

  1. Since the change, I see higher ticket prices on the Chase portal vs google.flights. This increase would just wash that out. Wake me up when this happens.

  2. So this site reports FICO Forum as the source of the rumor, and FICO Forum says only that this site is reporting the rumor. Synchronicity.

  3. Agreed with Alon, if they increase value, they’re definitely going to block points transfers, effectively decreasing value.

  4. let’s re-ignite the fear of them blocking points transfers between accounts (i.e. 5% freedom/ink –> CSR) since the CSR points are going to be that much more valuable 🙁
