25,000 United Miles for Buying a Car
Yesterday Miles to Memories reader Paul sent me a link to an interesting offer. The offer seemingly between Mercedes Benz and United Airlines goes something like this:
As a valued United MileagePlus® member, we are offering the opportunity for you to earn up to 25,000 bonus award miles and for United MileagePlus Premier members, exclusive member pricing on Mercedes-Benz models*
The truth is that this promotion uses Truecar. Truecar supposedly analyzes all vehicles on the market and tells consumers when they are getting a good price. In reality I believe they earn a kickback from the dealerships from their role as the middleman.
Either way, if you are in the market for a used Mercedes, you can visit the promotion website, enter in your MileagePlus number and search for preowned Mercedes Benz cars in your area. If you end up purchasing one, then they will give you 25,000 miles.
The Future of These Promotions
I always like when we see new types of promotions. While I am sure most people won’t take advantage of this, one can only hope that other brands will work to strike up similar partnerships. With Truecar working on the backend, you could substitute any airline and any car brand in this type of deal.
Conclusion
So this definitely isn’t the hottest deal in the world, but it seems that you can negotiate your best price outside of Truecar and still get the miles. There are a ton of FAQs and terms that can be found on the promotion website and I suggest taking a few minutes to read them if interested. While this deal isn’t for me, I certainly hope we see other similar ones pop up in the future!

This offer was available to me as a 1K so I guess they are just opening it up now to general members. Strangely, a family member that never uses their account got this email but I and others did not.
