  1. Are you a ‘manufacturer’ in an area that has Safeway/Vons/Pavilions ?

Have a bunch of fuel points from the glitch on the Visa cards?

Those points will be expiring today — make sure you ‘fill up’.

Also, if you happen to have an abundance of the points expiring tonight then spread some karma around. While you’re at the station, see someone else about to fill up? Offer to enter in your $1.00 discount code that expires tonight. It’ll bring a smile to their face — especially if they’re driving a Suburban or an RV.

  2. United allows two open jaws and one stopover for round-trip award tickets, which can offer tremendous value if planned properly!

  3. if you need to change a flight at a layover point, you usually can….for free!….if you call from the airport during your layover!

  4. Would be sweet to use them as I used some amex points to transfer to Aeroplan for a trip to DXB from CAli this month. No longer a 1K with united so it would feel nice to be somewhat worth it for me since I will be flying in coach all the way with ua and lh ):

  5. Shawn,

All I have to say it that I’m a big fan of the site and enjoy reading this daily. Around this time last year, I was a novice points collector. Within the last year, I’ve learned quite a bit and I have you to thank for that. Thank you and I appreciate the knowledge!

  6. all CVS coupons will deduct from your total, if you have the right cashier… I consistently save 60-70, and purchase the credits at 17% off… try it!

  7. Never buy a newspaper or magazine again! I always pick up the two lying around at airport and also am not shy about checking the paper recycling bin 🙂

  8. Don’t buy expensive water at the airport. Take an empty water bottle through security and fill it up after security.

  9. If you use midlevel hotels, go through the AA Advantage portal first; 2 to 3 miles per dollar for reservations you would have made anyways….

  10. Tip for families travelling in Europe, call/email the hotel directly for family accommodations. Many hotels were willing to upgrade us (no charge) based on status to a room that fit everyone. Saved lots of points.

  11. […] Welcome to the weekly “Best of Miles to Memories” recap series. Here you will find links to all of the still relevant posts from the past week. This week has been one with a ton of deals. I also covered Time vs. Value with Amex Offers, a return of personalized $500 Visa gift cards, the new Hilton status match & more. I am also giving away 2 United Club one-time use passes. You can enter here. […]

  12. Stack your savings whenever possible; e.g., OpenTable reservation + Dining Rewards network + Restaurant.com = significant savings

  13. Have a flight in December from Houston. These passes will surely be very helpful.
Maybe this will be helpful for some: On United Mileageplus X app, amazon purchase doesn’t give 10X bonus on Chase Freedom.

  14. Tip: Carry a book to read. For example, who wouldn’t want to read Shakespeare Sonnets while travelling the Lake District? Makes it that bit “more”, you know?

  15. Having booked a non refundable hotel and regretted later? Try call the hotel directly with reasonable excuses and you will get the reservation cancelled and fully refunded, if you do this sooner than later.

  16. Ever since United Club said goodbye to Priority Pass, I’ve been wonder how to access a lounge at SFO. Now if you kindly give this pass to me, why do I bother? 😉

  17. Tip: Use a service such as AwardWallet to help track the frequent traveler points you have accumulated. It tracks all sorts of useful information such as balances, expiration date, status level and more. The best part is the regular membership is a free service!

  18. I’m new to this hobby and I’ve only traveled twice so far, so I don’t have many tips. Would love to hear what other people have to say!

  19. Heading home for the holidays and a few free drinks in the club is always a good start before seeing my family! Thanks for running this contest.

  20. Tip: Lose your phone charger while traveling? Go ask at the desk of any big hotel, they usually have a drawer full of left behind chargers and many will just give you one if you ask nicely.
