In theme park news, Universal Studios confirms the expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The magical theme park at Universal Orlando is set to expand. Here’s what we know about the expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.

Universal Confirms Via Official Source

Thierry Coup, chief creative officer and senior vice president for Universal Creative, confirmed the expansion. In his view, too much has happened in the “Harry Potter world” for the park to not grow with it.

“We’re not done. You think about what has happened with Harry Potter in the past 10 years beyond our theme parks — The Cursed Child, the eight movies, Fantastic Beasts, the mobile game Wizards Unite. The Wizarding World is not resting. It keeps building.”

Yes, the park is now is 10 years old. As Coup notes, a lot has happened in that time, so Universal Orland plans an expansion. Exactly what that expansion will look like is unknown. It’s also unknown when that expansion will be open to the public.

Given the massive success of the park, expansion makes sense. And Universal Orlando can tap into the continued, growing success of the Harry Potter world beyond the original books and films. However, with the state of travel and lost income from reduced visitors lately, how quickly this construction will start and complete is anyone’s guess. All we know for sure at this point is that Universal Orlando is planning an expansion.
