Vegas Strip at Midnight

Las Vegas has made headlines lately for all of the wrong reasons. Crime on the famous Las Vegas Strip is up and that isn’t good for tourism. Lately we’ve seen a number of casinos implement measures to help including entry restrictions and even higher room rates. I recently stayed on the Strip and had one question to answer. Is it safe?

Specifically I wanted to know if it felt safe walking around Las Vegas at night. During my recent Planet Hollywood stay (full review coming soon) I left the hotel just before Midnight and trekked up the Strip and back down the other side to get a feel for the atmosphere and just exactly what Las Vegas is like in October, 2020. Is it safe at Midnight on the Las Vegas Strip?

During the tour I saw a number of interesting things, but I should emphasize I never felt unsafe. That doesn’t mean much, but hopefully it shows you a true look at who is going and what is happening on the Strip. It was an interesting walk and I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

  1. I am sure the businesses along the Strip are not happy to see articles like this especially since there are no direct correlation between off strip crime versus on strip crime. Having been involved in business along the Vegas strip for a very long time there is a lot that you don’t see or know, there are a lot of undercover floating around, it reminds me of arriving in JNB along time ago commenting to a local colleague the lack of apparent police he turned to me and said ” There are a lot of “guns” around us. Having some experience I could not find one. Same goes for your comment you might check into this and maybe print a further follow up. Just saying.

    • I don’t think anyone would be upset with this type of video. The news stories are out there, but I’m showing it isn’t quite what people expected. Indeed the Strip has layers and I no doubt missed a lot of what was going on, but if you look closely at the video there are tons of little stories being told all around me. As for the police thing I’m not sure what you are saying? You can see A LOT of police cars just driving around in my video and police are indeed in many places. I don’t think I ever said there weren’t police because there are A LOT of them. And the incidents have been happening despite there being a lot of them. So I think you either didn’t watch the video or misunderstood me in some way.

  2. My fav Bellagio water show – Andrea Bocelli Time to say Goodbye. Thinking about going back out but still worries the gambling isnt as fun as it was. There is nothing like a very crowded craps table and that isnt happening right now. Not even sure i can sit side by side with my wife at a blackjack table. Maybe in the spring – I def miss it for sure

    • The energy in the casino admittedly isn’t quite the same! So many of those video craps machines coming too! Not the same!

  3. On a Friday night/Saturday morning in August, I was out on the strip around midnight, and I never felt unsafe. Wouldn’t venture off the Strip at that time of night, though.
