This Week’s MtM Vegas Video
One of the newest properties in Las Vegas has started charging resort fees, but fortunately it is easier now than ever to avoid resort fees thanks to the new MGM Rewards program. We discuss how to achieve that and what you need to know. Make sure to read this article as well to learn some of the tricks.
In other news we talk about Main Street Station and how it is seemingly struggling right now plus why you want to go there on your next trip to see some of the cool history. (Berlin Wall and so much more!) We also talk how casinos are taking in record gaming revenue, Katy Perry is expanding her residency and a very famous statue may be leaving the Strip.

Really cool hearing about Vegas again. In the late 80’s with two or three computer shows a year, it was quite a zoo. One of our favorites was Main Street Station, both before and after Bob Snow from Orlando bought it. It was so empty that I had a regular parking spot 15 feet from the front door. In order to always save a bunch of money, we always mandated that all our employees would sign up for free slot (loyalty) cards at many of the hotels where we were planning to stay. While everyone else was paying $100-200 / night, we were paying $0 – $20 / night with slot offers. Our favorite party was at the Gold Nugget, where Al Sugart (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Shugart) from Seagate would reign, spending $200-300 / head for food / drink, and running his dog for US president. On famous boast I overheard from one of the Western Digital execs said, “The casinos complain that the computer shows don’t attract gamblers, when in fact many of them have bet their house and kids in their businesses, just to be here!” One of my former managers was “arrested” for having a “too rowdy booth and crowd” with an Elvis impersonator show, by Comdex owner at the time, Sheldon Adelson, who later bought the Sands. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheldon_Adelson) Lots of drama, 3-4 hours of sleep all week, $1 strip steaks, and lots of fun. And, a few of us actually made $$ during that week!
