  1. Starting April 1st, Chase Freedom card is offering 5x points per dollar at Grocery Stores including Stop & Shop. With an Ultimate Rewards points card, there points are worth 1.25 – 1.5 cents each (depending on the UR card you have) – which translates into 6.25% – 7.5% cash back.

If the activation fee is $6.95 for a $250 visa gift card, then the math would work out to be:

    $256.95
    Minus coupon $15
    Final Cost: $241.95
    UR Points earned: 1284

The points are worth $16.05 to $19.26
Making this offer effectively cost $222.69 – $225.9
Which is about a total return of 12-13% back.

    Happy shopping!

  2. Because they come with activation fees? That fee would be a higher percentage on the $250 card than on the $500 card.

  3. Why would buying a $500 card maximize your profit? Wouldn’t it make more sense to buy two $250 gift cards?
