Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas Amex FHR Increased Credit
American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts is a great benefit for Platinum and Centurion cardholders. By booking through Amex FHR you can get free upgrades, complimentary breakfast and an on-property credit which varies wildly from hotel to hotel.
Vegas used to have several hotel options through FHR which came with food & beverage credits, however all of the hotels recently switched to offering spa credits instead. Spa credits in my opinion aren’t as useful given the Vegas prices, so this felt like a devaluation of sorts. Waldorf Astoria to the rescue.
Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas – A Bigger Better Credit
I had the pleasure of staying at the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas earlier this year while I attended the Hilton Honors Concert Series. It is a wonderful luxury hotel with one of the best locations on the Strip. It is steps away from the action, but you don’t have to walk through huge casinos to reach it either.
Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas has long been on Amex FHR, however up until August 7, 2019 they were offering a $100 spa credit. Now, they have upped the benefit substantially to a $125 hotel credit. According to the hotel, here is how the credit will work.
The new credit for FHR bookings (Platinum & Centurion) is as follows:
- All bookings made on or before August 7, 2019 will receive a $100 Spa credit per stay
- All bookings made on August 8, 2019 onwards will receive a $125 Hotel credit per stay
The hotel credit can be applied to food & beverage and Spa (excluding Spa retail products). The credit is not applicable for anything beyond F&B and Spa such as rates, resort fees, etc.

After receiving this good news from the hotel I did verify that the new $125 hotel credit is showing on the American Express Fine Hotel & Resorts website. All bookings now receive this enhanced benefit, which is ridiculously valuable on short stays.
Maximizing Value
The Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas is a luxury hotel, so you won’t find $100 room rates like you might see at lower end properties. With that said, I was able to find quite a few nights at $205 plus tax & resort fee (~$283 total). Not exactly cheap, but with the credit it amounts to an amazing one-night cost given the hotel.
Conclusion
Chase’s Luxury Hotel Collection still has other lower end options with food & beverage credits, but it is nice to see a non-spa credit luxury hotel available for Amex premium cardholders. I did very much enjoy the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas and think this is a great option given its location and quality.

I was able to combine all of the above last year and save almost $500 for one night. The breakfast buffet is very high quality and highly recommended. I plan to visit again this October to combine with a free night certificate.
How would the Amex Offers work? The fine print doesn’t say you can book through the fine hotel portal.
Does AMEX Aspire’s $250 resort credit applicable here?
Yes.
For Vegas, one should always quote rates with taxes and resort fees since they can be so dramatically high.
