Use Your December Wireless/Streaming Credits, Plus Best Cards to Use Next Year
As 2020 comes to an end, those sweet American Express credits for streaming and wireless services ate set to expire as well. First you should make sure you use them for this month, if you have yet to do so, and then it’s time to switch your payment methods to a different card where you would get the highest return.
Wireless and Streaming Credit
During the pandemic, new benefits were introduced to several American Express cards. So make sure you use them for this month as well.
- Streaming Credits
- Personal Amex Platinum cardholders are receiving $20 monthly credits for streaming services through the end of 2020.
- Wireless Credits
- Personal and Business Amex Platinum cardholders receive $20 monthly in wireless service credits through the end of 2020.
- Personal Amex Green cardholders receive $10 monthly in wireless service credits through the end of 2020.
Best Cards for Wireless and Streaming Services
Once the year is over, it does not make sense to keep using these American Express cards for these expenses. Here’s a list of some options that you have:
- Wireless
- Chase Ink Business Cash: 5% on the first $25,000 spent on select business categories each year, including phone services.
- Chase Ink Business Preferred: 3% on the first $150,000 spent on select business categories each year, including phone services.

- Amex Blue Cash Preferred: 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming services.
- U.S. Bank Cash+: Streaming is one of the 5% bonus categories (up to $2,000 per quarter).
- Capital One Savor: 4% cash back on streaming service subscriptions until April 30, 2021.
- Capital One SavorOne: 3% cash back on streaming service subscriptions until April 30, 2021.
- Amex Wells Fargo Propel: 3x points on select streaming services.

I think the Hilton AMEX cards also give 3x points on streaming, wireless, cable etc.. Thats just what I stumbled upon while browsing around the AMEX site yesterday.
Anyone know is that 6% blue cash works with kindle purchases just as the current AMEX credits have been? 6% is huge if it works with Kindle I can see a window of opportunity, kind of MS style to earn credit for future Amazon purchases.
SoFi has a streaming subscription discount but that’s also set to expire at the end of the year. The big question is who’s going to blink first and extend these credits for 2021.
