World of Hyatt Credit Card Offer Dropping

World of Hyatt Credit Card Offer Dropping

It is no secret that the World of Hyatt credit card offer is dropping tomorrow morning. Right now the card is offering 5 free night certificates after a decent chunk of spend, but the card’s current offer will probably never be more valuable. It was already considered the all time high offer, at least by many, but it has become even more valuable after the horrible news today.

Current Welcome Offer

Here are the details of the current World of Hyatt credit card offer:

  • Earn 3 free nights after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
    • Plus, 2 free nights after you spend $15,000 on purchases in the first 6 months.
      • That would also unlock the $15K free night certificate, giving you 6 in total after completing all of the required spend (plus at least 15,000 points)
      • The free night certificates should expire 12 months from issuance.
      •  Free nights can be redeemed at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort worldwide.
  • The card has a $95 annual fee and is NOT waived.
  • DIRECT LINK

If you can handle the $15,000 in spend within 6 months it doesn’t get better than this. At least not on the high end of things. People complain about the usefulness of free night certificates though, and how points are more flexible. That is true, but it is worth the risk – especially now.

How This Offer Compares To The Standard Offer

The standard offer for this card is a bit deceiving, at least if I do say so myself. It is touted as a 60,000 point bonus, but that includes the normal 1x you earn for using your card anyway. The offer is broken into two sections. You earn 30,000 points after spending the initial $3,000 (I think) and then get 1x extra on your first $15,000 in spend. That works out to a 45,000 point bonus after spending $15,000 essentially. The extra 15K in points they include in the promotional material you earn already from using the card anyway. For arguments sake let’s include it when comparing the two offers:

  • Standard World of Hyatt offer:
    • Spend $15,000 and earn 60,000 World of Hyatt points, plus the 15K free night certificate.
  • Current World of Hyatt offer:
    • Spend $15,000 and earn 15,000 World of Hyatt points (from the spend), plus 6 free night certificates (when including the $15K spend one)

The question boils down to, would you rather have 45,000 points or 5 free night certificates when you subtract what overlaps above. Some argue they would rather have 45,000 points because they are flexible and don’t expire. Well, they are wrong – especially now.

The Hyatt Award Chart Devaluation Changes Everything

Even though people were mostly wrong before, preferring 45,000 points to 5 category 1-4 free night certificates, they are no doubt about it wrong now. Why? Because those 5 free night certificates are worth up to 25,000 points a night for Top level category 4 hotels. That is 125,000 points in total for the bonus versus just 45,000 points.

In the past these category 1-4 certificates were considered to be worth 15,000 points. That would give you 75,000 points in value for 5 of them, versus only 45,000 points. Maybe you could argue that the flexibility of points was worth the haircut there. Especially when you considered you had to find a category 4 hotel to maximize it. That changed a little when peak pricing was introduced a few years back. That drove the max value to 18,000 points per certificate, or 90,000 points. Double the value is already starting to sound a lot better, isn’t it?

You Don’t Even Need To Max It Out To Get More

Now though, it is a different ballgame. I don’t even want to focus on the 125,000 points in max value out there. Who knows how many Hyatt hotels will fall into that Top category 4 level after all. Let’s just focus on trying to get 15,000+ points per night. That now drops all the way down to Top level category 2 hotels – 15K a night. For a category 3 hotel, 3 of the 5 award rates are 15K+ per night. Then a category 4 hotel has 4 of the 5 award rates at 15K+.

If you are not following me here yet, it shouldn’t be hard at all to get at least 60,000 points for these certificates. You could even book a category 2 hotel potentially and not feel like you are wasting it. That opens up a whole lot more hotels versus just the category 4 Hyatt locations.

World of Hyatt Credit Card Offer Dropping

With the World of Hyatt credit card offer going away tomorrow morning, and likely dropping to the old 45K offer level, you should jump on it now. Even if you prefer points to free night certificates, the upcoming award chart changes make these certificates a ton more valuable. Lock it in while you can and thank me later!
