Wyndham Rewards Redemption
Wyndham’s loyalty program annoys me more than any other. But it does just enough to keep the wife and me hanging around. The program ranked #6 out of 8 in my Noncents Hotel Loyalty Program Rankings, and it would probably go down a slot if I could just get approved for a Best Western credit card. (Who saw that proclamation coming?) My wife and I definitely won’t be earning any more Wyndham points (more on that in a future article), but we still have a considerable amount rattling around in our accounts. We’ll continue redeeming them for what we consider good enough value aligned with our goals. A certain Wyndham Rewards redemption has been our go-to for years, and it continues to be our favorite.
Club Wyndham Redemptions
We redeem our Wyndham points in three ways:
- Club Wyndham properties
- Caesars Rooms and Incidentals
- Road Trip Flophouses, infrequently
We enjoy redeeming Wyndham Rewards points on dining, drinking, and staying at Caesars properties. After doing our homework, these points also come in handy for certain simple properties during road trips or before catching flights. But our favorite method for using the lion’s share of our points has been at Club Wyndham properties. (I know what you’re thinking – what about Vacasa when that option was around? Long story short, we just aren’t Vacasa people.) So why are Club Wyndham redemptions so attractive to us?
Generous Accommodations
We appreciate the benefits of Club Wyndham timeshare properties without the commitment that generally comes along with them. Perhaps the biggest perk is the large standard rooms. That last word’s a misnomer, as the ones we select are multi-room suites. More accurately, our experiences have been in accommodations akin to one-bedroom condos or apartments starting around 600-800 square feet.
Properties have been generously furnished, including a full kitchen with the necessary dining and cleaning supplies. We just showed up with food and beverages, and we were good to go. Each we’ve experienced has washer and dryer. Although we’ve never used them, it’s nice to have those as options.
Excellent Award Pricing
Club Wyndham redemptions bring more value than any other Wyndham redemption we opt for. My wife and I generally don’t care about cent per point valuations. Rather, we assess that any redemption aligned to our goals is a worthy one. Consequently, we’re fine with our Caesars redemptions at a penny each. But we can’t ignore the value we end up receiving from Club Wyndham redemptions.
Most of the Club Wyndham properties where we’ve booked have been 7.5k Wyndham Rewards points per night, with a few others at 15k nightly. We’ve easily received well over three cents per point in all instances, at a minimum. Last week, I booked a stay later in the year at a value of over four cents per point.
Family-Friendly Options
Unsurprisingly, the Club Wyndham properties we’ve selected have come with a variety of activities for family time. Some are what one might expect at a standard hotel, such as pools. But we’ve also seen a predictable pattern of the following:
- Nightly Campfires
- Board Games
- Planned Activities/Tastings
- DVDs
Fortunately, we’re a family who still enjoys those simple pleasures. And we don’t necessarily take advantage of all of them. But it’s safe to say we accent our stay with something unique offered at each Club Wyndham property.
Dearth
It’s odd calling out a program’s weakness as a positive of a particular redemption type, but I feel like it’s applied with Wyndham Rewards for years. Beyond the lucrative, come-and-gone Vacasa method, truly aspirational Wyndham Rewards redemption options are lacking. At best, Wyndham’s luxury options a rather limited. Some might think “nonexistent” is more accurate.
With Club Wyndham, I can redeem for sizable accommodations at a reasonable award price incomparable to any of the chain’s traditional properties at the 7.5k, 15k, and 30k nightly rates. And it’s not even close. There’s Club Wyndham, rooms via transfers to Caesars Rewards, and pretty much every other award night redemption sucks.
Conclusion
I certainly won’t overstate the importance of Club Wyndham redemptions. These properties lack many of standard hotel amenities, and some are dated. Plus, the fact I think glowingly of these redemptions should probably be seen as an indictment of the rather-mediocre-at-best loyalty program that is Wyndham Rewards. It’s the best I can do, and it’s good enough for us – for a little while longer.
You may have noticed I didn’t highlight any specific Club Wyndham properties in this article. That’s entirely on purpose. Just like many of you, I’d prefer these redemptions staying where they are. While devaluations happen, I generally avoid contributing toward them in my articles. Put in the rather-simple work, and I’m confident you’ll be rewarded.
Have you redeemed for a Club Wyndham stay? How was your experience?

Just sent my daughter and son-in-law to the TRS Yucatan ($550 per night for their nights) for 30k per night, and they had a great time.
