4 Years At Miles to Memories: It Has Been An Amazing & Wild Ride

Happy Labor Day everyone! I was just alerted to something that pairs up perfectly with the holiday.  Yesterday marks 4 years since my first post on Miles to Memories.

Increased Offer: Triple the Normal Bonus on the JetBlue Card from Barclaycard

It was a big news breaker doozie 🤣!  A 15,000 bonus was triple the normal rate for the JetBlue card. The card now has a 40,000 miles bonus, my how things have changed!

I find myself asking, has it really been 4 years, over and over again. Time really does fly when you are having fun.  The miles and points landscape has changed so much over that time frame.  We have seen new offers, new points systems introduced, a slew of devaluations and so much more.  Not to mention a worldwide pandemic that brought travel to a standstill across the world.

The one thing that has been a constant for me during that time is the family that I became a part of 4 years ago, the Miles to Memories team.  While new people have joined us along the way the original team is amazingly still intact. And we talk with each other pretty much every single day.  That is something truly special and really is a testament to what Shawn has built here.

I have also enjoyed getting to know our readers, Facebook Group and MtM Diamond members along the way more than you know.  I have been able to meet a lot of great people and gain some amazing friends because of my journey here. The real bonus is that they don’t roll their eyes when we talk about travel or miles and points either!  It is a great community we have here.

What started as a job, writing a handful of articles a week, has turned into so much more.  Over the last few years we have launched a few podcasts, a YouTube channel and do extra shows and podcasts in the Diamond group.  Shawn was gracious enough to include me in all of them.  There was a massive learning curve along the way, as there was learning how to write for the site, but he took the lumps right along with me.  We still make our fair share of mistakes along the way, as you can tell if you listen to the podcast outtakes 😁.

I wanted to take a second on this Labor Day to reflect on all of it and to say thank you for sharing the journey right along with me. Thank you for reading our work, listening to the podcasts and watching the videos.  Without all of you this simply wouldn’t be possible.  Hopefully after close to 3,000 articles I have gotten a little better at writing as well 🤣.

Also, a big thanks to Shawn for taking a chance on me and letting me take this ride with him. He is one of the nicest, and most genuine people you will ever meet and it has been a pleasure working for him these past 4 years.  It is not often you get to call your boss a friend!

Thanks for reading this indulgent ride down memory lane. I hope you are having a great holiday weekend and thank you again for sharing this hobby, and community, with us.

  1. Mark, Congrats on 4 years and I think you are a genius with so much travel hacking knowledge.
I always look forward to reading anything you post and you have really inspired me to expand my points and miles knowledge further and further. Thank you and Cheers! 🙂

  2. Cool, I went to see the new Rangers ballpark in June, making it 30 of 30. But how many have you seen that aren’t around anymore?

    • Congrats DJ! I think Yankee, Shea, White Sox old stadium and Tigers Stadium are the only old ones I have been to.

  3. Congrats Mark! I’ve enjoyed reading your articles – especially the ones surrounding your family, immensely. Continued success to you and the entire MtM team the next four years and beyond!
