$50 Frontier Voucher

$50 Frontier Voucher For Cancelling Flights By Monday March 23rd

I was supposed to be flying frontier this upcoming Thursday for a March Madness trip to Vegas 😢. That is obviously no longer happening and Las Vegas is completely shut down now (check out these eerie pictures).  I had cancelled my Frontier flights a few weeks ago an already got my credit.  My buddy still has not got around to cancelling his yet and he received an interesting offer from Frontier. They are offering a $50 Frontier voucher for cancelling flights by tomorrow, March 23rd.

Here is what the email said:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING FLIGHT – CANCEL NOW AND RECEIVE A $50 VOUCHER PER PASSENGER ON YOUR BOOKING

Valued Customer,

We recognize that this is a difficult time to travel and we are working hard to adjust our business while meeting your needs. As part of this effort, we are constantly evaluating our operations in order to best serve our customers.

If you plan to travel on your upcoming Frontier flight (your confirmation number is included below), no action is needed. If, however, you are not planning to travel and you cancel your booking now you, will receive a $50 per person voucher for future travel. This is in addition to a credit applicable to a future Frontier flight for the full amount of your unused ticket.

Simply go to flyfrontier.com now and cancel your flight via the “My Trips/Checkin” tab. You will automatically receive your credit for future use and also receive your additional voucher within 72 hours of your cancellation. Your $50 per person voucher will be available for booking through Dec. 31, 2020. The best part is your travel does not need to be completed by Dec. 31 just booked!

To qualify for the $50 per person voucher and flight credit, you must cancel your flight on or before Monday, March 23. This offer is valid for flights scheduled from March 22 – June 17. If you did not book your travel with Frontier directly, you will need to update your contact information when you cancel your flight. To cancel online, click here.

We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we navigate this challenging time, and we hope to serve you on many future Frontier flights.

Team Frontier

Final Thoughts

I am a little jealous about this since I had booked for me and two other buddies so that would have been an additional $150 for us.  But I also wish these airlines would simply refund the money versus offering a travel credit, especially if they want a bailout.  Who knows when things will be back to normal and when we can fly again.  Frontier putting a 90 day expiration on their vouchers originally was overly punitive as well.  Hopefully some of those things get addressed in the coming weeks.

  1. Eric – I was thinking of doing the exact same thing. My flight is in June. I understand it is likely we will not be out of this mess by then, but I’m still hopeful. So I was thinking of canceling and rebooking. Another issue that I have with all of this – including the bail out – is the fact that airfare will probably increase dramatically when all of this smooths over. So I will get a credit for the flights that I had at decent prices, but it will cost me a lot more to rebook later.

  2. That makes sense on the refund vs voucher. I figured they would just cancel if they wanted to anyway. Still wondering if I can buy a ticket today and cancel and get the voucher.

    • My only guess would be so that they can cancel flights that are most affected. Other thing may be if they do cancel flights they have to give a refund where when people cancel they give out vouchers instead. Those would be my two guesses at least.
