AAdvantage 5K Transcon Fares

American Airlines blew our socks off recently with amazing 10K roundtrip fares to both Hawaii and Australia/New Zealand. I am not ashamed to say I exchanged 10K AAdvantage miles for many miserable hours in coach coming soon.

Anyway AA is going bananas again with 5K one-way fares on tons of routes across the United States including transcon routes. Normally many of these one-way fares would be 12,500 AAdvantage miles, but during this sale you can get them for 5K.

There are a ton of options as referenced in this TPG post.

Here are some example cities:

  • LAX/LAS/SAN/SEA/SFO/PHX to/from BOS/BWI/CLT/DCA/IAD/PHL/LGA/JFK/MIA

But there are even more than that. Dates are available from November, 2019 through October, 2020 so there is a lot of opportunity. Make sure to select Web Special to see the great pricing. You will also notice that many dates are above 5K, but below the normal price. There are many great deals to be had. 

How to Book

To search for and book these crazy American Airlines fares you need to go to the American Airlines website. You will need AAdvantage miles in order to take advantage of this sale.

    Fo8und zero 5k awards for JFK, MIA, CHC, AKL, SYD.

    Zipper and out of luck I guess.

  2. I picked up LGA/CLT/LAX in December for 6000 miles with a shortish layover in CLT. AA lets you pick a seat. 😉
