Use American Airlines Miles to Get Status for One Day
American Airlines has launched a new way for loyal customers to use their miles. The program is called “Enhance with Miles” and it opens up a new opportunity for members.
AAdvantage members can unlock Enhance with Miles once they reach 40,000 Loyalty Points. As you reach Loyalty Point Reward levels, you have the opportunity to redeem miles to get status, or gift it to someone else for one day. You’ll find Enhance with Miles in your AAdvantage account once you qualify.
Here are the four Loyalty Point Reward levels:
- 40,000 Loyalty Points.
- 75,000 Loyalty Points.
- 125,000 Loyalty Points.
- 200,000 Loyalty Points.
While point thresholds are the same, this new program is separate from the Loyalty Point Rewards where you earn perks and benefits for reaching new tiers.
Enhance with Miles
With every level, you will have the opportunity to earn higher status or gift status to someone else for a day. Pricing could vary, but it looks like it starts from 15,000 points. Here are the details:
40,000 Loyalty Points:
- Gift AAdvantage Gold status to someone for a day
- Get AAdvantage Executive Platinum status for a day
75,000 Loyalty Points:
- Gift AAdvantage Platinum status to someone for a day
- Get AAdvantage Executive Platinum status for a day
At 125,000 Loyalty Points:
- Gift AAdvantage Platinum Pro status to someone for a day
- Get AAdvantage Executive Platinum status for a day
At 200,000 Loyalty Points:
- Gift AAdvantage Executive Platinum status to someone for a day
Key Terms
- Once purchased, status for a day cannot be changed, exchanged, modified, or transferred. So choose wisely.
- Status for a day is nonrefundable.
- If your selected day is impacted by an involuntary flight cancellation, please contact AAdvantage customer service.
- Status for a day must be purchased at least 7 days before the desired usage date
- Members who do not already have access to complimentary Preferred or Main Cabin Extra seats when they purchase will receive 4 Main Cabin Extra seat coupons in their AAdvantage® account Seat coupons will expire 2 days after the selected date and must be applied to future travel before expiration.
- Complimentary upgrades and access to Preferred and Main Cabin Extra seats for status for a day recipient and companion(s) are subject to availability and may not be available on all flights
- Members who have AAdvantage® status through status for a day are not eligible for discounts on Admirals Club® memberships other than what their earned status tier may provide
- Status for a day is only available on American Airlines marketed and operated flights
- Status for a day is limited to 2 purchases per member, per unlocked Loyalty Point level.
