It’s late so I’ll get right to it. Point me to the Plane is reporting American Airlines has some amazing Web Special fares from the United States to Australia and New Zealand.

Here are some sample routes:

  • LAX/SFO-AKL for 6K one-way or 10K roundtrip
  • LAX/DFW-SYS for 6K one-way or 10K roundtrip

I was personally able to put two itineraries on hold. One itinerary was 18K AAdvantage miles + $82.80 for 3 people one-way to Auckland. Amazing price.

The second itinerary is roundtrip LAX-SYD for next Feb/March. The grand total price was 30K AAdvantage miles + $277 or around 10K + $93 per person. ROUNDTRIP from the U.S. to Australia!

Free Holds

American Airlines is continuing to offer free holds online in most cases. For both of the itineraries above I was able to get a free hold until November 2, 2019! That will allow me sort everything away.

Bottom Line 

10K miles roundtrip from the United States to Australia or New Zealand is an amazing price. While it is coach, a flight that long for 5-6K each way is a smoking deal.
