American Airlines Gold Status Challenge For Hyatt Members
Last night when I was working on canceling an upcoming flight home from Prague and I stumbled on a new offer in my account. There was an American Airlines Gold status challenge because of my Hyatt Explorist status. I thought that it was weird timing to roll out a challenge but luckily you can wait until September 30th to activate it. It does look to be a true challenge and not a status match with a challenge like last year. Let’s take a look at the details.

Final Thoughts
As you know we have stopped sharing deals that put people in danger or encourage breaking social distancing. I decided to share this since you can wait until September to activate it. Hopefully some travel has picked up by the fall but we don’t know yet.
World of Hyatt Globalist members do not appear to be targeted for the offer since they were gifted Executive Platinum status last year. Hopefully American extends that status into next year like Delta has.
I personally have never found airline status to be worth the effort but offers like this make the math look more appealing. But with no close in booking fee on American Airlines any longer one of Gold status’ biggest perks has become useless. Because of that I am not sure how much this is really worth.
Anyone considering taking them up on the offer if travel is back in the fall?

Last time around they provided the status during the challenge period. This offer is less appealing.
Yup I think that was to kick off the partnership. I wish they would have done it again but I understand them leaving off the instant status this time.
Meh. If it was a decent offer for Platinum or Platinum Pro, I’d be more interested.
Delta for life anyway 🙂
