American Express Authorized User Bonus Offers
I received an email yesterday with a compelling authorized user bonus offer for my Delta Skymiles Gold Business card. These offers usually give you bonus miles for adding a new authorized user and then completing a small amount of minimum spend. American Express has been very generous with these in the past.
The AU bonus offers are kind of like a small sign up bonus for adding someone to your card. They work best for cards that don’t charge for the authorized user, which is the case for my Delta Skymiles Gold business card.
Offer Details
The offer for my Amex Gold Skymiles business card is as follows:
- Earn 2,500 Delta Skymiles for every additional authorized user added
- Max of 4 bonuses
- The authorized user must spend $500 within the first 3 months of carrying the card.
- Offer ends July 31, 2018.
That works out to 6 Skymiles per dollar on all spend, when you include the 1 per dollar you always earn. That is a pretty good return and should net you over 7%. I may have to switch which card I use for minimum spend for a few weeks.
Potential Issues
This sounds great and all, and it is, but there are some things to be aware of. Adding a lot of authorized users has lead to some getting a Financial Review from American Express in the past. Also with the new rules Amex added into their card’s terms last week it is kind of like the wild wild west out there.
I don’t think you will run into issues if you add one or two people but I wouldn’t add 4 AU’s on day one if you got the offer. Slow and steady with American Express for the time being is my advice.
Also be cautious about putting anything but regular spend on the cards when going for these bonuses.
Conclusion
This is a pretty nice offer. It isn’t going to make you miles rich but earning 6X on every purchase is pretty hard to beat. Plus there is no hard pull for this and since it is for a business card it shouldn’t affect the authorized user’s 5/24 count like a personal card can.
Let us know if you got an offer for any other cards in the comments section and I will add them into the post.

I’m jealous – that is a great one!
I didn’t get one for my AmEx, but got one on my Citi Premier card. I added my cat as my AU. Mr. Whiskers has quite a few credit cards now lol.
Citi doesn’t ask for a Soc #? Interesting.
hard or soft credit hits on these for either party?
Soft pulls if anything
