American Express Green Card, Increased 25K Bonus Available
Recently we wrote about the rumored changes coming to the American Express Green Card. The card has no public bonus, and a 15,000 Membership Rewards bonus available through referrals. Some are being targeted for a better bonus though.
The Offer
Earn 25,000 Membership Rewards® Points after you spend $1,000 on purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months.
Annual Fee $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95.†
Analysis
This is the highest bonus we have seen for the Amex Green Card. But even at 25K it might not make sense. The bonus through referrals is at 15K and when if you can get a friend or family member to refer you, or even self refer, you can come out ahead. Card like Amex Platinum give you a 15K referral bonus. The old Amex Business Gold Rewards will even give you 20K if you have it. So the total bonus could reach 30K or 35K. That would be the best way to go.
Conclusion
The card will probably be upgraded in a couple of months, but we don’t know what changes are coming exactly. If improvements are significant, then annual fee could be increased as well. In that case, applying now would be a good idea. But it’s a coin toss in my opinion.
