American Express Will End OPEN Savings Program

American Express Will End OPEN Savings Program

American Express will discontinue it OPEN Savings program. If you’re not familiar with the program, it is an added benefit on American Express business cards. You can earn a 5% discount or an extra 2X Membership Rewards points for every eligible dollar spent with OPEN Savings partners. Partners include merchants such as HP, Hertz, FedEx and more.

Doctor of Credit reports that the following message is now showing up for some people when applying for an American Express business credit card.

Effective June 1, 2018, the OPEN Savings program will no longer be available on your Business Card. You can view savings and rewards opportunities for business purchases, including offers from FedEx, in Amex Offers, which you can access by logging into your American Express online account at americanexpress.com.

Conclusion

Sad to see this benefit go away. I’ve used it occasionally, mostly at HP. They don’t have many partners so maybe not many people will be affected.

Have you been taking advantage of the OPEN Savings program?

  1. I’ve had this card for many years and have it as my card of record for my car rentals and my FedEx account. Initially, it was a 10% rebate on Hertz rentals. If the benefits are going away, then I’ll be cancelling this card.
