Amex and Delta Increase MQMs Status Boost by 25%

Yesterday we wrote about Delta removing change fees for international flights and waiving fees for bookings through March. Now there’s a new offer for Delta SkyMiles Platinum and Reserve American Express Cards Members that makes earning Medallion Status just a bit easier. For 2021, the Status Boost benefit becomes even more rewarding for Amex Delta Card Members. Let’s see how this offer works.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card Members

  • In 2021, you can earn 25% more Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs). Earn 12,500 MQMs for every $25,000 you spend on purchases on your Platinum Card, up to 2 times. That’s an additional 2,500 MQMs on top of the 10,000 MQMs you already earn with Status Boost in the calendar year.
  • Since this card comes with two Status Boosts each year, that means Card Members can earn 25,000 MQMs after spending $50,000 – getting them to the Status they want faster even if they’re staying at home.

This promotion applies to the personal and business versions of the Amex Delta Platinum card.

Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card Members

  • In 2021, Card Members will earn 25% more Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) through Status Boost. Earn 18,750 MQMs for every $30,000 you spend in purchases on your Reserve Card in the calendar year, up to 4 times. That’s an additional 3,750 MQMs on top of the 15,000 MQMs you already earn with Status Boost.
  • Since this card comes with four Status Boosts each year, that means Card Members can earn 75,000 MQMs after spending $120,000 – getting them to the Status they want faster even if they’re staying at home.

This promotion applies to the personal and business versions of the Amex Delta Reserve card.

Conclusion

As a Medallion Member, you’ll enjoy elite travel experience whenever you fly. Earning 25% more Medallion Qualification Miles through credit card spend, makes it easier to earn status. You can see the MQMs that you need for each level here.

Delta has already announced that status expiring in 1/31/21 would be extended through 1/31/22. Additionally, all MQMs earned in 2020 will also count in 2021.

  1. C’mon folks, this means very little to travelers needing status. Without addressing MQD’s, more MQM’s mean nothing.
